Have you integrated your object-oriented business architecture with value stream mapping? I would think that a functional diagram - the lowest level of which are the tasks associated with delivering a result - once sequenced (using Bert's maths) would define the ideal flow / vsm.

Everyone starts their VSM assuming the current sequence is the optimum and simply try to take waste (muda) out - what about taking another step back and defining ideal flow using your object oriented architecture tools?
